Michigan will make a lot of important decisions on Nov. 3, 2026.

A new governor. A new U.S. senator. New attorney general and secretary of state. Local races up and down the ballot – plus a question about whether to hold a constitutional convention for the first time since 1963.

But elections are about more than the names on a ballot. They’re also about how we make choices: what we believe, whom we trust, what divides us, and what brings us together.

Michigan Decides is a five-part series from Michigan: We Need to Talk exploring the forces shaping this year’s election — from misinformation and political advertising to identity, participation and the challenge of finding common ground.

We’re not here to tell Michiganders how to vote. We’re here to ask better questions, listen to different perspectives, and understand what’s at stake for all of us.

Five Thursdays. One election. A bigger conversation.
